On October 26, 2018, JTBC posted a video announcing that Seulgi would be one of the MC's for their variety show Cool Kids. On July 21, 2018, she alongside Wendy was on the special 100th episode of KBS's variety show Battle Trip. On February 23, 2018, OSEN reported that Seulgi would be part of the cast for Law of the Jungle in Mexico, which aired from May to July. ![]() ![]() She went on MBC's music variety show, King of Mask Singer, on October 2, 2016, where she went under the name Cinema Heaven. Seulgi was featured on the JTBC variety show Off to School, where she attended Gyeonggi Arts High School for three days along with other idols, which aired from April 2015 to May 2015. Seulgi played the main lead, Dorothy, in SM Entertainment's hologram musical, School Oz, which had the first screening on January 14, 2015. On August 1 2014, the group officially debuted with " Happiness". On July 17, 2014, she was announced as a member of girl group Red Velvet. She didn't receive a call back until a year later and began training in 2007 during her first year in middle school. Plus this isn’t the first time SM has gone back and added a member and I don’t believe it will but the last outside of NCT.Seulgi auditioned for SM Entertainment in 2006 through an open audition. Also I don’t care what anybody say ice cream cake was her motherfucking era debut Yeri popped off rightfully so. Regardless of the pure truth I’m happy she was added she really round the group out, especially in terms of vocally I felt like adding her created more of an even shift from the main vocal to sub. ![]() But Seulgi said she never ever thought Yeri was going to be in the group and was excited when she found out that she was being added. A lot of say it was because her age that she wasn’t added and that her parents rejected her being added for debut. I assume the company went back to the drawing board and decided to add Yeri. Since the debut had mixed reviews and the remake of SES’s Be Natural didn’t pop off either (both good as fuck esp that remake.) I assume because They did not like the concept, they were tired of waiting, or the girls just realize idol life was not what they wanted anymore. Because back in the 2014 SM Town documentary Seulgi and Irene kept mentioning how their debut kept being pushed back because girls were leaving left and right. I believe that originally another girl was suspected to be in the group but left really close to debut preparation so they just decided to go with 4 instead. If that was truly the reason I'm glad they stopped after Yeri because I also ult NCT and the fandom drama that comes with every new member/unit is really not worth it sometimes □ (Not because I don't like any new members! It's that the fandom headache that always comes with it is a pain to see.)ĭon't have sources for these but I've seen them repeated a bunch of times over the years □♀️ I've also heard the rotation concept one and you can see the other Rookies girls in Happiness, too. Yeri was 17 Korean age / 16 international when she was added. Like you said, SM usually debuts them young. She was reportedly LSM's favorite but since RV already debuted, and she'd be "old" by the time the next girl group was ready, they killed two birds with one stone by adding Yeri - she got to debut, and also lowered RV's average age which was on the high side for a rookie girl group (they were 24, 21, 21, 19 Korean age / 23, 20, 20, 17 international age at debut). ![]() It specifically went beyond stage talent - she got a lot of buzz for her visuals and charisma as well. One commonly accepted explanation I've heard in the fandom is that while Yeri was passed over for RV debut for whatever reason she was considered a "complete" trainee and debut-ready when the Rookies girls were doing showcases.
